There are many different forces within the world of Neverrift, but few are as closely connected to the sea as the Outcast. Far from the land, this faction rose from the depths of oceans, lakes, and rivers, creating a group unlike any other.
Malleable and the Rivers, Fearful as the Deep
The Outcast is described as being “Malleable and the rivers, Fearful as the Deep.” Their origins lie far from the land, in places where few humans would ever dare to go.
The Outcast was formed as an unwanted assembly of fishlike half-breeds and creatures driven into the rushing waters. Although they came from different backgrounds, they were united by one goal: revenge against the landfolk.
From Isolation to Alliances
Originally, there were no humans among the Outcast's ranks. Over time, however, this began to change. The faction formed alliances with humans when necessary and eventually came to embrace commerce more swiftly than any other faction.
This change shows another side of the Outcast. While they remain deeply connected to the waters, they are also capable of adapting when circumstances require it.
Magic and Survival
The Outcast is deeply connected to the magic of the Rift and its secrets. Rather than depending on others, they relied solely on their own tricks to survive.
Their life is closely tied to the sea. The Outcast moves with the tides, gathering supplies during the ebb and striking with force during the flow.
This connection to the water is an important part of what defines them. The tides are not simply part of their surroundings—they shape the way the Outcast survives and acts.
A Faction of the Waters
The Outcast stands apart through its connection to the oceans, lakes, and rivers. From its beginnings as a group driven into the rushing waters, it developed into a faction capable of forming alliances, embracing commerce, and surviving through its own methods.
Bound to the sea and connected to the magic of the Rift, the Outcast remains a faction shaped by the depths and by its desire for revenge against the landfolk.
Gameplay
A good match if: you enjoy changing positions, finding new angles and adapting to your opponent's board.
The Outcast have the strongest movement profile of the five factions in the rulebook's comparison. Their broad profile favors the beginning and middle of the game. This makes them worth exploring if you find positioning more satisfying than relying on raw attack values alone.
In the lore, the Outcast are an alliance of aquatic creatures and half-breeds, bound to the waters and shaped by survival and ingenuity.
Try this approach: compare the board before and after a movement effect. Which creatures become exposed, where could a future attack come from, and what might your opponent do in reply? Movement alone does not trigger an attack unless a card effect says otherwise.
